[Bug 574140] [NEW] Touchpad not recognized by X because package not installed on upgrade
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Just upgraded to Lucid Lynx on Dell Studio 15 (model 1558 i3). During
the upgrade, this package was not installed. My touchpad was not
recognized by X. Not only could I not configure it, but since it is a
capacitive touchpad, it operated erratically. Just moving my fingers
above the touchpad (reaching for the spacebar) caused the pointer to
move across the screen.
Even when using the touchpad, the pointer wouldn't operate in a stable
way. The pointer had a "jitter" to it which made clicking on anything
on my 1080 HD screen really, really hard.
I don't know if this is the right place to report this bug. What other
information should I
** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
