[Bug 575227] [NEW] display area shifted, mouse also affected

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
with a clean installed lucid on a hp dx 6050 desktop computer i get a somehow shifted screen:
with a resolution of 1024x768 the left part of the display area is missing and gets displayed at the right corner.
also the bottom parts is missing, but this doesn't get displayed at the top. instead the first pixel from the top seem to be repeated ~30times. (see photo).
making screenshots doesn't show this behaviour.
anyway this doesn't seem to be related to a misconfigured monitor because the mouse has it's "active" point in the vertical middle and horizontal left of the mouse-icon.
when running xrandx the screen gets blanked for a short time.
