Public bug reported:

does not even try to install, gives error "Reconfiguring X.org video drivers is not possible: /etc/X11/xorg.conf is invalid".
Installed 173.14.25 for amd64 from Nvidia site, no problem with install, but does not load the driver, only runs in low graphics mode. Before trying ubuntu's  tested version  via jockey I made successfull version .25  ....run --uninstall.
