Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

the X server fails to star on a machine with an intel 82852/855GM video
card. this is an older Fujitsu Siemens Agilo laptop, running 10.04

the X server used to work with 9.04

in 'failsafe mode' (using the vesa driver), it starts just fine. but
when no driver is forces (basically xorg.conf is just a generic
template), the system totally hangs on X server startup - be that right
during boot, or when startx is issued from the console

when starting the system in 'failsafe' mode to reconfigure X, it will
actually not create a working xorg.conf file either.
