[Bug 581956] Re: dexconf fails to create xorg.conf or error message

Apparently Xorg-configure does not work on all platforms…

⋯:/etc/X11# Xorg -configure

Fatal server error:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
	and start again.

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
	 at http://wiki.x.org
 for help.

 ddxSigGiveUp: Closing log

 From man Xorg
      -configure
When this option is specified, the Xorg server loads all video driver modules,
probes for available hardware, and writes out an initial xorg.conf(5) file
based on what was detected. This option currently has some problems on some
platforms, but in most cases it is a good way to bootstrap the configuration
process. This option is only available when the server is run as root (i.e,
               with real-uid 0).

---

And why won't you fix this. It is a major pain to have to reset screen
resolution, and repair the desktop each time the x-server is started?
