[Bug 582547] [NEW] monitor name in display preferences is corrupt

Problem stated with Lucid.
The monitor name in display preferences is corrupt containing graphics characters and some part of the correct name. 
On a T60 with Radeon X1400 adapter.
Multiple monitors tested.
