[Bug 582694] [NEW] macbookpro with latest nvidia drivers doesn't suspend or hibernate (it does with 170.x)

Public bug reported:

I've seen a few bug reports on nvidia-graphics-drivers but I open a new
one, since none of the previous seems to cover my problem.

I think it all started while in Karmic and upgrading nvidia drivers.
Whatever, I can confirm I have the same issue nowadays, in Lucid Lynx.

Suspend doesn't work: it locks the screen, but not suspending it as it did befere, when using dirvers 195.36.15.
When I switch back to using drivers 170.x, (the one available at the repos.), resume and suspend work again as expected (but firefox doesn't refresh properly the screen when scrolling a long page down or up. - chromium does refresh the screen properly... it seems so odd, but anyway, that's another issue, with that earlier driver; with the latest one, refreshing page with ff works fine).

I wish I could find the 190.x drivers that other reported that were working fine for them (I'm running on 32 bits)
My machine is a MacBookPro 5.5

** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)
