[Bug 584246] Re: Temporary screen corruption / glitches on Ubuntu x86-64

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core

  Hi,
during normal usage of my computer, my screen occasionally partially corrupts, especially the lower fifth or so of the screen, sometimes the lower half. It's mostly just multi-coloured garbage (I sometimes get the impression, it's a lot of orange and black) mixed with the real contents of the screen and lasts for under a second. Sometimes this happens more often, sometimes less often, and I have yet to find out, why.
- I'm reporting this for core, as I've seen this on two different notebooks (HP dv9700 and Lenovo Thinkpad T400), with three different graphics cards (Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS on the HP / ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470, Intel GMA4500 MHD on the Lenovo), both using the amd64 version of Ubuntu 10.04.
- On both laptops I've seen this using Ubuntu from the live CD, so it happens in stock Ubuntu.

+ On both laptops I've also seen this using Ubuntu from the live CD, so it happens in stock Ubuntu, too. I also considered the fact that my CD might be corrupted, but then #a everything else is working normally, #b I guess the live CD compares a checksum against itself (although I don't know any more with the new CD's), #c I uninstalled and then reinstalled Xorg from the web, to no avail.

Sorry, if this bug already exists, but I couldn't find anything
  matching.
