Message #75836
[Bug 586949] [NEW] cannot enable visual effects with nvidia-common
Public bug reported:
I cannot enable Visual Effects on my system, even though nvidia-current
is selected in jockey and Xorg.0.log shows "NVIDIA" driver in use.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Select nvidia-current in jockey.
2) Open System -> Preferences -> Appearance
3) On Visual Effects tab, try to select Normal or Extra (as opposed to "None").
4) Progress bar will display, after which screen will blink and you get a dialog box saying, "Desktop effects could not be enabled"
