[Bug 590954] [NEW] After Lucid upgrade, invalid LVDS modes shown

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

After the upgrade to Lucid, certain games did not play anymore on my Compaq EVO n620c.
The screen became black, and the computer thus unusable.

Reproducing it started when I realized that the same problem appeared when setting 640x480 resolution from the monitor settings menu.
Per-lucid releases did either NOT allow 640x480 resolution or a setting that I so far haven't found.
I found no 640x480 resolution that the used monitor supports.
Adding a Monitor entry restricting the horizontal sync range, the problem was mitigated.
The game now plays well at 800x600 resolution: the lowest attempted.

This is a nasty regression problem, that took me a day to figure out.

New Monitor entry:
Section "Monitor"
#Identifier "LTN141XC-L01"
Identifier "LVDS"
HorizSync 31-100
VertRefresh 45-85
# 800x600 74.91 Hz (CVT 0.48M3) hsync: 47.12 kHz; pclk: 49.00 MHz
Modeline "800x600_75.00" 49.00 800 840 920 1040 600 603 607 629 -hsync +vsync
