[Bug 380126] Re: [Karmic] Touchpad not recognised correctly, synaptics driver not in use

I'm seeing this bug (touchpad detected as generic mouse) on an external keyboard\trackpad.
http://www.ceratech.co.uk/pages/epos/pos/kyb500-k82b.htm The Touchpad chip is a CIRQUE. dmesg and Xorg.0.log detect the keyboard and mouse as TG3 Electronics TG82tp
The touchpad is detected as Generic Mouse.
What is interesting is I get the same problem with this external keyboard\trackpad combi on a dell laptop D400 and D410 but on those the built in touchpad is correctly detected and supports scrolling.

here is the dmseg output.
[13529.167297] input: TG3 Electronics, Inc. TG82tp as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-3/1-3.2/1-3.2.1/1-3.2.1:1.0/input/input6
