[Bug 594610] [NEW] 10.04: /etc/x11/xorg.conf missing after reboot
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Dear team,
just upgrade from Mythbuntu 9.04 to 10.04, all updates installed.
System: Intel SSD 160 GB for OS, 1.5 TB SATA for recordings, 4 GB RAM, Quad-Core, 2 DVB-S cards.
System was stable in 9.04 for a long time.
After installation of 10.04 I enabled propertiary Nvidia drivers to use VDPAU deinterlacer. nvidia-xconfig
creates a /etc/X11/xorg.conf which enables the Nvidia driver and works fine.
However after every second or third reboot the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file is gone. As VDPAU is configured
the system will not play TV or any recordings but boot into the "low-res" graphics setup.
Okay, first time I laughed and thought I did a mistake - recreated /etc/X11/xorg.conf. After the 10th time
I was quite frustrated.
I used chmod a-w xorg.conf and chmod a-w . in /etc/X11 to disable any
updates. Since then it works fine.
