Message #83332
[Bug 612335] [NEW] Enable Thinkpad Trackpoint scrolling by default
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse
All thinkpad Laptop and perperhials (USB keyboards) feature a
trackpoint. One feature missing from Ubuntu out of the box, is the
ability for the trackpoint to do horizontal & vertical scrolling.
If you are on a web page, you hold the middle button (which on Thinkpads
has a blue strip .. to identify this feature) .. then you use the
touchpoint to scroll the page. Horizontally or vertically.
Thinkwiki.org has put together a very comprehensive config for xorg to enable this feature for only Trackpoint enabled devices.
The xorg.conf.d conf can be found here:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_configure_the_TrackPoint#xorg.conf.d
I have tested it and it works wonderfully on my Lenovo Thinkpad X301,
Lenovo Thinkpad T410, as well as the Lenovo Thinkpad USB keyboard.
I have the config file attached to this bug. But I'm not 100% sure if
xserver-xorg-input-mouse is the right package to put it in or not.
This is a feature that many Thinkpad users use under windows. Would be
good to have it enabled in Ubuntu by default.
** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-mouse (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
