Message #83947
[Bug 615494] [NEW] package-hooks//source_xorg.py crashed: NameError: global name '_' is not defined
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 507492 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507492
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: x11-common
I've tried to report a bug using "ubuntu-bug" and when going through the
wizard I chose "Other problem" and then "Freezes or hangs during boot or
usage".
apport than halted for ~20 seconds with this traceback on the console:
% ubuntu-bug
4378
hook /usr/share/apport/package-hooks//source_xorg.py crashed:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/apport/report.py", line 636, in add_hooks_info
symb['add_info'](self, ui)
File "/usr/share/apport/package-hooks//source_xorg.py", line 63, in add_info
report['UnreportableReason'] = _('The running kernel is not an Ubuntu kernel')
NameError: global name '_' is not defined
After that it proceded with a "Send report to developers?" confirmation box nonetheless.
I think the real intention would be to abort this bug report, but
because Apport itself crashed, this does not get carried out.
I'm filing this bug for both x11-common (apport hook) and Apport itself,
which should handle this better probably (i.e. not going on).
