[Bug 621011] [NEW] system boots with a locked splash when nvidia driver fails

Public bug reported:

>From time to time the nvidia driver fails to work with the current system which is of course related to its beta and proprietary status. Unfortunately the system starts up with a locked splash screen then and the only chance to resolve this is to press CTRL-ALT-DELETE to reboot the system. No switching terminal keys like CTRL-ALT-F2 work either.
In the boot parameter option I have to remove the option "quite" and "splash" then to get a textual bootup and to see what the problem of the nvidia driver might be.
This is acceptable for a power user which know how to circumstance this, but might be a problem for other users. It should be possible to login at least and to see the error output of the X server.
