Binary package hint: xorg

Screen is 1440x900 60 Hz.  Installed 10.10 Beta today, running fine,
rebooted fine.  Did a sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and
also sudo apt-get install openssh-server samba.  For some reason apt-get
didn't finish, just stopped.  Could not do a dpkg --configure -a because
another process had service locked.

Rebooted to try to unlock service.  Now screen resolution has been
changed, should not have, and says it is 1280x1024 75 Hz which is a
don't fit won't work so the ati radeon Xpress 200 and the bios are
displaying something or other.  Background is stretched and bottom panel
fell off the display.
