[Bug 643163] Re: package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build
After some testing, the problem seems to be related to kernel 2.6.32-24.
After a clean install from the lucid iso, I installed the fglrx driver
through Hardware Drivers and it installed fine, everything working after
reboot. Then, without installing any other updates, I installed linux-
headers-2.6.32-23, linux-headers-2.6.32-23, and linux-
image-2.6.32-23-generic. The fglrx driver continued to work fine. I
then installed linux-headers-2.6.32-24, linux-headers-2.6.32-24-generic,
and linux-image-2.6.32-24. After reboot, the fglrx error occurred
(error reported by Ubuntu, could not enter administrative Catalyst
Control Center, user Catalyst Control Center has most options disabled).
I removed the 2.6.32-24 kernel, booting back into 2.6.32 and the fglrx
was fine again.
