Public bug reported:

fglrx consistently fails to install on new Lucid installation.  Install
is fine with kernel 2.6.32-21, but after update to 2.6.32-24, fglrx no
longer works and will not reinstall. This has happened twice on a clean
install of Lucid.  Reinstalling dependencies does not fix the problem.
Installation from Hardware Drivers, Synaptic, and CLI (apt-get) all
fail.
