[Bug 635457] Re: Synaptics touchpad doesn't work properly

I have attached a patch that will fix the button problem at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/582809

The Linux kernel does not currently support the new Synaptics multitouch
protocol that the Windows 7 driver uses. Furthermore, the touchpad
doesn't seem to reset properly when switching between the multitouch
protocol to the old absolute protocol. This happens when the computer
is restarted to boot Ubuntu after running Windows. You can avoid this
issue by powering off the computer before booting Ubuntu.
