Hi Sander,
  My understanding is the Intel 945 chips have a 2048 horizontal maximum pixel limit; it can push 4096 pixels with a load of things disabled, but that's probably not a good idea; so 2048 is the maximum practical.

  I have the same problem on my laptop.

Marking Invalid because it's a hardware limitation (although I can
imagine something should have told you).
