Public bug reported:

After last updates my maverick installation fails to start unless i run xorg in failsafe mode through recovery console. 
The screen remains purple after the loading splash screen with Ubuntu 10.10 has gone.
I think the problem is with the update in the nvidia driver, but I'm not sure and I don't know how to test it.
