Hi,
I have got the same problem as Jacob. I am also using a Acer Travel Mate 6592G running Ubuntu 10.04. I have loaded updates earlier this week and since have the exact same problem getting the tpm_transmit tpm_send: error 4294967234.
My laptop starts up then gives me  a black screen with a login prompt. When I leave it for about 3-5 minutes it continues to flash another error code and then only starts the normal X window. After that I can sign in and work normally.
Is there any resolution to this problem?
