I'm using Kubuntu 10.10. The screen had become blank grey, with no
apparent way of getting out of this situation. The cursor could move,
but clicking had no observable effect. I used Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Del to log
out of KDE, and then this crash occurred.

This behaviour (KDE getting stuck or X crashing) did not happen in
10.04.
