Message #96196
[Bug 664646] Re: system cannot display extended desktop on Samsung 2333sw
> I tried 0 and 1 for radon.new_pll, running sudo update-grub after each
one. Both are still blurry. I should not have to reboot the machine or
logout, right?
No - /etc/default/grub & update-grub change boot time options. You'll
need to reboot after editing these options before they will take effect.
While you're doing that, could you please add drm.debug=0x04 to the
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line? That will add extra debugging
information into your dmesg log.
It would be useful to try with the KVM switch set to the this machine
during boot, just to eliminate that as a possible source of confusion.
It might also be useful to try different resolutions on the second
monitor - perhaps one works, and that might help isolate a difference
between a resolution that works and one that doesn't.
Once you've set drm.debug=0x04, could you please attach the output of
running “dmesg” after trying (and failing) to set 1920x1080 on the
external monitor? That will have lots of data for debugging, some of
which might help.
