[Bug 672938] [NEW] Touchpad detected as generic mouse on Fujitsu P8110
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
I have a Fujitsu Lifebook P-series, which comes with a touchpad. I have
installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 (using wubi), and it only appears to detect a
generic PS2 mouse. In System -> Preferences -> Mouse, I don't have the
"Touchpad" tab. I have tried following various instructions online, but
none of them have helped.
The thing that drives me nuts is the tap-to-click functionality on this
laptop, which is hypersensitive, and I can't disable it. I keep editing
my own text, writing in wrong places, selecting stuff I don't want,
click while I type, etc etc etc. I even tried disabling it in Windows,
but that didn't change anything in Linux.
Including files requested in the relevant section of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection ("In case Touchpad
features like scrolling, tapping, etc do not work at all.")
Windows' Device Manager shows the mouse to be an ALPS device.
