Re: Team Restructure Ideas

Hello,

you seem to have a very nice conversation here. Let me add myself in :) I want to say that we shouldnt compare ourselves to beginners team.

First of all, all of us aren't beginners and why should Ubuntu Youth concentrate only to them? Does being young mean being a beginner?

There are some people that just code own projects right now and don't even publish the source codes because they can't get anything ready themselves. Also there are a lots (i mean lots) of people who want to write some code but there aren't anyone helping them when they want to ask something. most of time they have to ask from reqular irc channels where you don't get that youth-support (explain things and teach it rather than pasting some working code).

These both groups should need developing mentoring, especially the first group. Somebody should get these people involved with bigger projects, like KDE and Gnome (for example, there are bugs tagged as "junior jobs" in KDE bug tracker. Those bugs are very easy to fix and aren't critical so there are lots of time for working with them).

Second reason for why we shouldn't compare Ubuntu Youth with beginners team is the amount of active members. We really dont have many actives (and how many of those are gone forever, meaning we don't see that nickname again). When comparing two teams, other for all Ubuntu beginners and other for all young Ubuntu users, I think that beginners team has more fanspace. We really should think about that too.

No really more for now, hope that this turmoil in team structure really changes something.
