peter proposed the following answer:
Ok, you have downloaded and installed the correct language package
(English Canada). Try to do the following:

1: Click Tools > Options
2: Click Language Settings
3: Click Languages
4: In the box "Language of" the entry Locale setting should contain your language (English Canada)
5: In the box "Default languages for documents" the entry Western should contain your language (English Canada)
6: Left click Writing aids
7: Make sure that the spellchecker, the thesaurus and the hyphenation are active

If all these things have done, the button of the Western entry in the
box "Default languages for documents" should be marked with a character
sine.

Hope it helps.
Peter
