[Question #77288]: Can't set normal resolution and refresh rate
New question #77288 on Ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/77288
I use Ubuntu 9.04 and I can't set real resolution and refresh rate : maximal resolution in control panel is 800x600 and max. refresh rate is 60Hz. I need 1024x768 and 100Hz. I have COMPAQ P910 monitor. I've tried DisplayConfig-GTK, but it can set only 1024x768 and 87 Hz and even don't work : there's an error at startup. I tried to edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but got the same error. Even xrandr doesn't help. I've created 1024x768_100.00 mode with cvt and xrandr, but when I run "xrandr --verbose --input VGA-0 --mode 1024x768_100.00", it shows nothing and resolution doesn't change. Lxrandr and grandr don't work and give errors.
I can't normally work in Ubuntu because of this, and you call it "linux for human beings"? When I used OpenSUSE 10.3 and 10.2, I could set normal res. and refresh rate.
