marcobra (Marco Braida) proposed the following answer:
The tar.gz is simply like a zip file. You can easily make it simply
using Nautilus ( menu Places → Home Folder ) go to the /home directory
right click with mouse on your username directory and select create
archive select tar.gz then create it. i hope you have enought space on
your ext3 partition.

Then simply copy the your_username.tar.gz file to the windows ntfs
partition or on an external device.

Please ask if are in trouble please open a new (or few questions) about
this.
