would be to avoid using Windows until you've sorted the problem out. We
might be able to help with that but as long as you stay in linux you
will be safe from Windows viruses. Windows viruses don't work in linux

Really the main thing is "Don't Panic" there's no need to. Linux viri tend to be pretty harmless because of the way we run linux.
