You already have stacks of software already included in a standard
Ubuntu install. Totem is a great multimedia player. <sighs> (lol)
During bootup you should have lots of different options for booting into
Ubuntu. The 2nd option should have "recovery mode" at the end of it's
line. This takes you to a menu on a disturbingly blue screen. Try
using "Clear some space" and then "Fix broken packages".
Have you been installing Windows stuff inside Ubuntu?
