Re: [Question #77628]: using a wr cd to save data

Question #77628 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/77628

Jeruvy proposed the following answer:
Well you can but a couple pointers.

1. To use a CD/DVD as a RW media the disc's must be REWRITABLE, and not
'session finished'. So you need to buy a special type of disc and use
those, and leave the 'multi-session' open. They tend to be pricier than
regular burnable disc's.

2. Using multi-session discs can be troublesome, as they sometimes get
corrupted or simply stop writing if an error occurs. Disc's started on
one burner sometimes can fault on other burners if the session is not
finaled.

3. For the cost, I'd stick to DVD-R's and burn what you need. If you
just need RW media, I'd not use opticals instead I'd be using flash
drives. Better support, less hassle, more joy :)

Good luck.
