You could try to run FireFox from a terminal.
To do this go to Applications-->Accessories-->Terminal, type in the terminal "firefox" and hit Enter. Tne Firefox should launch in its usual look. Tell it to connect to Sportcrime and then look if there's any output in the terminal. If yes copy it paste in an answer here please. 
May be we'll be able to see some error report.
