Re: [Question #78177]: No GUI after update
Question #78177 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78177
Status: Open => Needs information
actionparsnip requested for more information:
I get this:
andy@fileserver:~$ ps -ef | grep gdm
root 2328 1 0 00:08 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/gdm-binary
root 2356 2328 0 00:08 ? 00:00:00 /usr/lib/gdm/gdm-simple-slave --display-id /org/gnome/DisplayManager/Display1
root 2369 2356 1 00:08 tty7 00:11:30 /usr/bin/X :0 -br -verbose -auth /var/run/gdm/auth-for-gdm-5lAlzS/database -nolisten tcp vt7
root 2449 2356 0 00:08 ? 00:00:00 /usr/lib/gdm/gdm-session-worker
andy 31021 2772 0 18:08 pts/1 00:00:00 grep gdm
I use -ef as its the Linux standard, aux is the bsd standard but both
will work in Ubuntu.
If you kill both gdm processes then run:
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
is it better?
The last item is the grep running so can be ignored. If you boot the old
kernel is it ok?
