Mark Rijckenberg proposed the following answer:
Hi,
First of all, please keep the USB sound card disconnected at all times,
when trying to playback sound on the laptop speakers.
Then please try the solution from forumuser nallen00 at the following
location to try to get sound working on the laptop speakers:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7299632&postcount=60
The file to edit in Ubuntu 9.04 is /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
The file to edit in Ubuntu 8.04 and Ubuntu 8.10 is /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-
base
This solution is recommended by forumuser ertayone at this location:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1192274
ertayone is using the same laptop as you are using.
Hope it helps,
Regards,
Mark
