Felix Zielcke proposed the following answer:
Just run grub-install /dev/sdb or on what ever disk you want to have it.
upgrade-from-grub-legacy executes in karmic currently always grub-install "(hd0)" so it depends on your /boot/grub/device.map to which disk it installs.
Mostly this is by default /dev/sda or /dev/hda.
