[Question #78837]: 9.04 System hang when Logitech USB Receiver (mouse) removed
Question #78837 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78837
Description changed to:
I have an HP NR3610 Rugged Laptop, which is essentially a re-badged
Itronix Gobook II IX260+.
I installed 9.04 cleanly from a CD, not an upgrade.
I had my Logitech V220 wireless USB mouse for laptops plugged into the
USB port when I did the install.
Everything works except the side-scrolling feature, which I can live
without.
Here's my real problem:
If I do not boot the system with the usb dongle for the mouse in place,
only some of my keys work, and I cannot log in. The mouse buttons on the
synaptics touch pad also will not work.
If I boot the system with the USB receiver for the V220 in place, it
works fine. If I REMOVE it while the system is running, it essentially
hangs. The Keyboard, and Synaptics Touch pad will not function, even if
I plug the dongle back in, and I am forced to do a hard reboot.
To be clear, the synaptics touch pad and the keyb work fine alongside
the logitech v220 - when the V220 is plugged in.
I am hoping for solution to this, as I do not take the wireless mouse
with me when I have the laptop out of the house typically, as it's a
damage risk for the dongle.
I have been using #ubuntu EFnet, as well as reading as much docs/forum
posts as possible, and I see all kinds of logitech issues but not quite
like this.
I realize I'm trying to make 9.04 work on a tricky hardware platform
(radeon 7000 mobile graphics, touch screen etc) but otherwise I've been
pleased on how it works. (I can't imagine ever getting the touchscreen
to work properly, but that's another battle for another day).
Any help is most appreciated!
