Status: Answered => Open
c4man is still having a problem:
FDisk - Current HD in Laptop, not the 320GB I will replace it with.
Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x7454dbe5
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 122 979933+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda2 * 123 7420 58621185 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 7421 14593 57617122+ 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 7421 14593 57617091 83 Linux
I want to keep it completely away from windows so no sda3 windows partition, but will use Wine for some windows apps (where does Wine put windows app files?)will need to increase partition space to accommodate..
So sda1 = 3GB (Swap)
sda2 75GB Primary Partition, file system= ext3 for /
sda3 42 GB Logical Partition, file system =ext3 for /home
sda4 100GB Logical Partition for Virtual Machines
sda5 100GB Logical Partition for Data, Music & Video storage
Also this machine is using 32bit will install 64 bit Ubuntu, any advise
as which to use(have AMD Turion64 chip?
