Re: [Question #78779]: connect verbatim 320G USB storage drive (ubuntu 9.04)
Question #78779 on Ubuntu changed:

Status: Answered => Solved
Keith Rennie confirmed that the question is solved:
Verbatim USB 320 problem solved at the flick of a switch.
I picked up off the shelf a Staples 7-port hub with a meaty little 3.8 amp power supply (that's 500 redblooded milliamps per port fully loaded, not microamps), powered up and plugged in the Verbatim drive. It switched itself on and KDE 4.2 on Ubuntu 9.04 recognized it immediately as VERBATIM. It works just fine, now its a nice little piece of equipment contentedly shining blue, and it fits neatly in your shirt pocket.
port
Its USB equipment identifier is 18a5:0214. Chinee makee problem, chinee
fixee problem. Or maybe its just like cars in my ill-spent youth, when
90% of your carburettor problems were electrical . . .
Its possible that you may first need to initialize this thing on
Windoze. Perhaps unnecessary, but I did, just to make sure the drive
was actually functioning. All of 30 seconds, and you can hold your
breath that long.
Thanks for caring, all y'all.
