Is it a laptop. If so, is the device enabled in bios? and the killswitch
set to on.
If not try rebooting with those settings, if the hardware is known to be
present then can you please provide the output of:
dmesg > ~/dmesg.txt; gedit ~/dmesg.txt; rm ~/dmesg.txt
