We are doing our best effort given the limited volunteers we have. Also,
the latest blender package was uploaded to Vivid on February the 3rd. Is
that forgetting about it? In any case, Mozilla software have an
exception to the archive freeze rule, and Blender does not. There is an
active (paid) maintainer for packaging Mozilla updates, Blender does
not. If you want more rapid updates, enable a PPA, that is why PPAs
exist.

  Blender is too old

Status in blender package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Blender is always old, and you can even have non fixed release in
  Ubuntu official repository. Basicly you just slap the latest aviliable
  version and forget about it until next Ubuntu release.

  Its not updating as often as Firefox yet the latter is always fresh.
