Here [1] one little gemstone bug over at launchpad i found, of course this
sheds some considerable light on the issue.

i found a couple of blogs and even an Ubuntu Brainstorm idea [2] on this
matter..
Obviously, the problem associated with this issue is related to the 2
release cycles old ToDo list item that was supposed to make NotifyOSD talk
to FUSA (Fast User Switching Applet), which is now replaced in this matter
by the MeMenu (IM Presence Settings).

In search of at least a design spec for the Do Not Disturb mode i found only
a stub on the NotifyOSD wiki [3], which did not address this specific
problem comprehensively at all.
Instead, the behaviour of "applications" is being spoken about, which
suppress notifications and should at least tell the user that they will do
so..

Or does anyone think that we don't need a DnD mode for NotifyOSD?

@ Mirco (if you're not too busy to read/reply): with the introduction of a
DnD mode, would it eventually make sense to stop suppressing ASYNC
notifications in fullscreen apps while in "Available" and "Away" mode?

Actually, i don't even know how the AFK mode was already discussed here on
the ML last year.
Vish made references to old threads, perhaps someone has links to the
archive? i would love to read up on this..
