Re: Evolution indicator

I don't get that "service" VS "non-service" thing... for example, I fully
expect my mail app to be a "service-like" application. I don't want to open
the whole mail client "just to see if I got mail", nor do i want to have it
open at all times "just in case I recieve mail". I want to be notified when
mail arrives, an then if I decide to go read it, let's go and open the
application. Same thing for gwibber and empathy, and liferea. If something
arrives, then notify me, then I'll decide if I want to open the app to read
it or not. Having 4 applications open, laying in memory and on my desktop
"just in case something arrives" is a waste in my opinion, as well as having
all of them closed, but having to open each one to update them. You guys
provided people some ways to update their status / send e-mails without
having to have the client open (me-menu/messaging menu), why not continue
that way and allow people to be notified about what they recieve the same
way? That would make the whole experience a real nice one.

I'm not a designer, this is just my 2 cents, I hope it'll help!

Jean.
