global menu

hello

One thing.
I realized the global menu title versus app function replacing really distracting. When I work with Inkscape or Gimp, I want to see the menu always. Otherwise I have to point the cursor there kinda in the void and then move with the cursor to the right position and then finally click on the menu field I'm going for. This requires always one step more to do in order to click on thinks I know they are there..I think for user who do not know the program that "well" as I do for example it's even more painful. ...so it slows down my work heavily.
I definitely voting for stable menu then this procrastination.

One more thing.
I worked with Maya and Blender (3D modelers) for couple years, and they have among others one really nice feature. When you hit space key the main menu shows up right under the cursor, which is the place your eyes are mostly focused during your work. This is really grate because your concentration is not constantly disturbed by squinting on the menu filed, no matter where it can actually be (in our case on top left corner, or in the window bar). This feature is grate for heavy users and super grate for beginners, because they always find the menu no matter what. I'm mentioning this not because I want you to move the Global menu under the mice (Although this will be awesome feature, that I'll definitely love) but because I want you to think over the Unity menu position. I do not think the top left corner is the right place. I always loose my concentration when I hit the Super key and have to look somewhere else then I was focusing during my work...I'm always like hitting the supper key, than waiting for a while untill Unity menu shows up, then I'm like aaaa what I wanted to do?, yea right open this app... and that's because my concentration is lost. Before I have decided to try Unity I used Kupfer a simple app luncher. This was super fas and easy to use, plus it opens always in the center of the screen, which is not as perfect as in Maya or Blender as I mentioned but far better then in the corner. My eyes staid were there were (more or less) and I worked like a rocket. The reason why you want to have everything "under the hand" is because you save your eyes. When you work on computer for say 8-12 hours as I do then if you have to look here and there thousand times a day your eyes are tired sooner then if you keep focus.

oki that's all for now.
