What users want you can find on the Ubuntu Brainstorm website:
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/

There are many ideas from what people like to see in Ubuntu. I think you 
have to make a poll (NOT requiring a Launchpad account) part of the 
Ubuntu Brainstorm website.
