Might be worth exploring whether keyboard-shortcuts for minimizing
windows could work in Spread. For example, user creates a custom
keyboard-shortcut of Alt+F9 to minimize window. When in Spread and a
window has orange-focus, tapping Alt+F9 would minimize that Spread-window?
Yeah, I don't know what to do about whether minimized windows should
show in Spread or not. I'll leave this to the Community for now. I'm
focused on the keyboard-shortcut for closing windows because this is
the ONE feature that I would use a lot and frankly the only feature I
feel would be hard to live without.

sounds good.
Now about*Minimizing*.
i think it would be good to be able to minimize from the spread, not
just close.
Is faster than focusing windows first then targeting the controls.
A lot of people (in several crowded bug reports) have been wanting a
faster way to minimize by "clicking the launcher icon", but I think
the spread is a better place for controlling all these windows,
specially with the new designs show lots of potential for a "new way
of window managing".
Also am not sure if minimized windows show on the spread or not, would
be nice to have a hint that they are minimized and even toggle the
state in the spread as mentioned.

good idea about the "overlay numbers." Perhaps the user could add a
modifier (e.g., Shift+1-0) to close the corresponding window? So
tapping the "overlay number" would bring that window front and center
but tapping Shift+1-0 would close the window. I'm not sure using
Ctrl+1-0 or Alt+1-0 would be a good choice as a modifier to "close" a
window because these modifiers are used in the Web-Browsers already to
focus a corresponding tab (Ctrl+1-0 in Chrome and Alt+1-0 in Firefox).
although Ctrl+W is used in both Web-Browsers to close tabs.

Am not so sure about the *"close button" being theme dependent*....
that would just slow the implementation and probably bring in a number
of bugs. I wouldnt want it postponed to 13.04...
i think *a generic overlay close button would do better*, like what
you see with the numbers.
On the full spread it should also show an *icon for each app*. i.e.

cinnamon also did it in the last release.

also agree with middle click close.

WOW. If they implement all of that it will be fantastic.
I know there may be quite a few users who would question the removal
of workspaces by default, but:
A) they're still optional
B) I used to use them all the time, but I've found that even without
all of the extra features/improvements in this document, task
switching in Unity is easier, so I rarely use workspaces now.
+1 to the middle click idea and to having a keyboard shortcut. My only
thought is that Ctrl+W is not intuitive for close.
Since any letter might represent an appropriate word in one language
but not another, I wonder if delete might not be more intuitive and
international?

The proposed Unity Task Switching features are nice work:

However, it would be nice to have a keyboard shortcut option for
closing windows from within Full-Spread and Application-Spread.
The google doc made no mention of this capability.
I hope the following feature for closing windows from within
Full-Spread and Application-Spread will be added to the feature-list:
1.) when a window in Full-Spread or Application-Spread has focus
(i.e., orange highlight), pressing Ctrl+W will close that window.
I think it would also be beneficial to have this feature as well:
2.) middle-clicking a window from within Full-Spread or
Application-Spread will close that window
