I just came across an interesting comparison of Gnome Shell,
Elementary, and Unity. It focuses on the efficiency of a particular
task: launching a game that you can't remember the name of.

The Unity Dash comes out worst of the three, but it's very easy to see
how it could improve by adopting some ideas from Elementary, without
making other use cases worse.
