I am trying to test this now, and noticed that the variable vm-paragraph-fill-column mentioned in the documentation of vm-fill-paragraphs-containing-long-lines seems not to exist anymore?  more later, E

Bug description:
when set to this value, filling is done for a width that's some 10 characters larger than the actual window width, instead of a few characters shorter.
