It does work as intended on Firefox and Safari, but on Chrome it is bugged: The text "Searching <item>" is not changed when selecting a new entry and it is impossible to select anything when there is already search text entered - the menu closes before it is possible to select something. 

Did you test Chrome on Windows? I would be surprised if it behaved differently.
