Message #00280
[info] (part 3 of 3) Wintermute's Metadata
Metadata is perhaps Wintermute's ontological "bread and butter", so to say.
Metadata, in the orb of Winty, would be merely a definition of a base class
in the ontology about things Wintermute can bluntly speak about. We would
also need to provide an unknown class type (UnrecognizedMetaData) to
prevent Wintermute from going mad. For example, if Wintermute didn't know
yet how to handle URLs, it could just display it to the user and let it
determine what they wanted to do (although Wintermute should detect that
URLs are a subset of URIs and therefore can be opened in a Web browser
[depending on its protocol]).
Meta-classes like (WinterInstance) would represent all of the information
that Wintermute uses to identify and describe itself. It could also be used
to describe other processes. Trust settings and definitions could be defined
in the ontology, complete with the rules and everything.
** Excuse the shortness of this message, but this is hard to conceptualize
** without being able to properly use an ontology.
